What is Cosplay?

Well, simply said it is "COStume PLAY". Translated: getting and acting as a character you choose from any source like for example anime, manga, comic books, cartoons, video games, movies, ...
On the wikipedia is a pretty large article that summarize the most of Cosplay: "Cosplay on Wikipedia"

Why do I want to Cosplay?

Hard to tell actually. I guess it happens due to a few impressive Cosplay outfits I saw on my first convention that I went to. The convention was called Japan Expo and a friend of mine was there with a small stand to sell figurines, sheets and lots of other stuff with anime images on it.

Knowing they would be there and the fact that I liked Sushi, Samurai's, the mystery of Ninja's, the art of Bonsai and a few other Japanese items made it easier for me to go one day to a convention. So at the morning of the convention I went over there (half an hour before it opened) and there was already a large row of people waiting to enter. I was surprised by how many of them came dressed as an anime character.

And some of them were pleasing to the eyes. Here I don't mean the sexy-jujitsu of Naruto (^_^) although there were many many Naruto versions and once I entered the party for my eyes went even larger meeting professional Cosplayers acting as characters from Assassins Creed and people doing a photo shoot for some other Cosplayers. Lots of them where self made costumes. And this is what pulled my interests! I was wondering if I could do the same as well.
